During the last couple of years, duplex steels for the liquid and bulk storage industry has increased dramatically.
Avesta Welding keeps strengthening its position as the world-leading supplier of welding consumables for duplex stainless steels.
LDX 2101®, a new duplex stainless steel from Outokumpu, has received special interest as it has proven to have great many advantages, including weight and cost savings.
Avesta Welding provides a full range of welding filler metals for all joint welding applications and different stainless steels. Our consumables deliver the strength and corrosion resistance that the liquid and bulk storage industry demands.

Common duplex stainless steels used for storage tanks
Avesta LDX 2101 |
For welding the new high-strength duplex stainless steel, Outokumpu LDX 2101® (1.4161). Avesta LDX 2101 is over-alloyed with nickel to give a balanced microstructure. This ensures that the weld metal’s properties are fully comparable to those of the parent metal. LDX 2101 is suitable for moderately corrosive environments and offers the same or better corrosion resistance than that of 304 (1.4301). LDX 2101 has been used for tanks containing:
• Palm oil • Wine • White liquor • Potable and sewage water • Ethanol • Fruit juice • Biodiesel

Avesta 2304 |
Duplex 2304 (1.4362) was developed as a high-strength alternative to 316L (1.4404). Avesta Welding is the first manufacturer in the world to offer a compete product programme with matching filler metals for duplex 2304. Duplex 2304 is used particularly for storage tanks containing:
• White liquor • Marble slurry • Pulp suspension • Hot water • Pure acetic acid • Wine

Avesta 2205 |
Duplex 2205 (1.4462, UNS S32205) has been successfully used for more than 20 years in storage tanks. Avesta 2205 is an over-alloyed filler metal designed for welding this and equivalent duplex steel grades. Avesta 2205 gives a weld with very high strength and excellent corrosion resistance to both pitting and stress corrosion. Duplex 2205 is an ideal grade for storage of corrosive chemicals and has been used in tanks containing:
• Phosphoric acid • Pulp suspension • Hot water • Green and black liquor

Avesta 2507/P100 |
For welding the super duplex grade SAF 2507® (1.4410, UNS S32750) and equivalent steel grades. The properties that Avesta 2507/P100 gives the weld metal fully “match” those of the parent metal. SAF 2507 has been used in process plants in the hydrometallurgy industry for tanks containing aggressive chemicals. |
